Electrician
Top End RACE is a Darwin-based trade services company specialising in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and
Electrical services across the Northern Territory. Our Electrical Services division delivers high-quality outcomes
across building and facility maintenance, electrical construction projects, street lighting infrastructure, and traffic
signal systems throughout the Greater Darwin region.
The Electrician is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems across this diverse portfolio of work. The role requires a skilled and motivated tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship, demonstrates strong safety behaviours, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team in Darwin's demanding tropical environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Electrical Maintenance & Projects
- Install, test, commission, and maintain electrical systems in compliance with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and all applicable Australian Standards and NT legislation
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults across residential, commercial, and industrial systems
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
- Prepare and submit electrical compliance certificates, inspection reports, and associated work documentation
- Participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance programs
- Install and maintain switchboards, distribution boards, metering equipment, and associated electrical plant
- Support project teams on civil and building electrical infrastructure works
Street Lighting
- Install, maintain, and repair street lighting infrastructure including poles, luminaires, underground cabling, and control equipment
- Perform fault finding and timely restoration of street lighting networks
- Carry out LED upgrades and lighting retrofits across council and government lighting assets
- Work with SCADA and remote monitoring systems for street lighting control and fault detection
- Operate Elevated Work Platforms (EWP) and other specialised equipment safely and competently
- Maintain accurate asset records and condition reports for street lighting infrastructure
- Liaise with local councils, Power and Water Corporation, and relevant authorities regarding network connections and planned outages
Traffic Signals
- Maintain and repair traffic signal infrastructure including signal heads, controllers, loop detectors, pedestrian signals, push buttons, and associated cabling
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on traffic signal assets
- Respond promptly to fault callouts and emergency repairs to restore signal operations and minimise community disruption
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new traffic signal systems and upgrades
- Carry out all works in accordance with Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) standards and specifications
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, fault records, and asset condition data

Linesperson
The Linesperson role is responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance and commissioning of street lighting infrastructure, operating across voltage ranges from Low Voltage (LV) up to and including 11kV systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installation & Construction - Install and erect street lighting infrastructure including columns, luminaires, cables and associated equipment from Low Voltage up to and including 11kV systems in accordance with approved drawings and specifications
- Electrical Works & Terminations - Perform LV and HV cable installation, jointing and termination works across the full voltage range, ensuring correct phase identification, polarity and connection integrity at all times
- Testing, Inspection & Commissioning - Conduct pre-energisation testing, high voltage pressure testing and full commissioning of street lighting circuits, control systems and 11kV infrastructure to relevant standards and specifications
- Maintenance & Fault Response - Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across LV and HV street lighting networks, diagnosing and rectifying faults efficiently to minimise disruption and restore lighting services
- Documentation & Compliance - Complete accurate site records, inspection and test documentation and as-built drawings while maintaining compliance with BS 7671, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and all relevant DNO standards and requirements
- Health, Safety & Environment - Uphold the highest standards of health, safety and environmental practice on site, including risk assessment, traffic management, correct use of PPE and prompt reporting of all incidents and near misses

Refrigeration Mechanic
Due to continued success, our team is expanding, and we require Qualified Refrigeration Mechanics to start as soon as possible. Our Tech’s are highly trained and skilled Trade’s people, working on a range of HVAC related works including larger commercial projects throughout Darwin and surrounding remote NT areas.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
- Refrigerant Handling Licence
- Restricted/Unrestricted Electrical Licence
- Construction Induction Card
- Drivers Licence
- Working with Children’s Clearance (OCHRE) or ability to obtain
- Demonstrated trade relevant experience
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to pass Police clearance

Due to recent growth, we are seeking to employ casual to full time Civil Labourers for immediate starts working within Darwin and surrounding areas.
